Who do you think is building the fence under the act Congress past to keep Mexican immigrants out? More illegal immigrants. The irony in this situation should alert those making these key decisions. The problems is not to keep out illegal immigrants, rather solve the situation at hand. There are 11 million known undocumented immigrants, its about time something was done about them first.
A fence building company in Southern California was fined 5 million dollars for knowingly hiring illegal immigrants. It has become a game of hide and seek for the government. They want to find companies who hire such workers and punish them. What does the government think undocumented workers will do? They are not here to sit on their asses like the millions who collect welfare.
Illegal immigrants costs the average taxpayer money, but also saves them a bundle. The productivity they place back into the economy overcompensates for the losses. But if they were to be legalized, maybe that cost to the average taxpayer would be eliminated as well. They too would be obliged to pay taxes and put money back into the economy. Its a win-win situation.

To say that those who collect welfare simply "sit on their asses" is a HUGE generalization and an insult to my family, and many families accross the country who work hard but have trouble maintaining the standard of living. Aren't these article supposed to be screened?
Welfare dependency is an ever growing aspect in the US. More and more people are placed in a cycle which is hard to break away from. The problem lies not only with the people who collect welfare, but the system itself. Welfare reform is an ongoing movement, which has been addressed by the Republican Congress.
If Mexicans can stand on Roosevelt avenue for hours looking for work, why can't the rest of the unemployed population. It's because they do not want to be placed at that level.
