Rumsfeld Memo

In a memo leaked by the NY Times Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld called for "major changes" in Iraq Policy just two days before his resignation. This leads me to believe a few things. I think that Rumsfeld may have been pushing President Bush to make changes however the presidents strong convictions would not allow him. This may have been the unexpected but applauded resignation of the Secretary. The memo said that "clearly, what U.S. forces are currently doing in Iraq is not working well enough or fast enough.” It went on to suggest that the White House should create a new campaign that would lower public expectations.
