"Iraq should be in a position to solve Iraq's problems"

President Bush met yesterday with Shiite leader Abdul Aziz Hakim. Hakim is the leader of the largest bloc with in the Iraqi government. President Bush called their meeting "very constructive." This meeting came as calls for change in Iraq policy are loud and clear to President Bush, and he has begun weighing his options. Meetings with Hakim, Prime Minister Maliki and many others have been happening over the past 2 weeks, in anticipation of Wednesdays release of the Iraqi Study Groups proposal for change. Hakim wants to ensure that the Unity government in Iraq play a primary role in the changes he says "Iraq should be in a position to solve Iraq's problems." He opposes any regional or international effort to solve Iraq's problems that goes around the unity government in Baghdad.
